Our Mission

Darling Miss Pageants was founded to present fun & fair competitions in a pageant atmosphere where girls can develop life skills, gain confidence, perform their talents and make friendships.  We believe it is important for girls to enjoy their femininity and we provide a forum that allows them the opportunity to celebrate the joy of being a girl!

Darling Miss also recognizes those less fortunate and will contribute a portion of the proceeds each year to organizations benefiting children.

 Our Founder

Marilyn Schenk has over 20 years experience in the pageant world as a contestant, judge, director, consultant, coach and mom!  Her daughters and a daughter-in-law have won many local, state and national titles.  She has coached many girls of all ages to titles as well!

Active in the community, Marilyn volunteers at her church and at her son's elementary charter school, along with many community envents.  Among other volunteer efforts, she was the former director of the Miss Truckee Meadows Pageant & the Miss Washoe County Pageant in the Miss America system and has served on the board of Disability Resources, Inc., a Reno non-profit.

Because of her passion to help those less fortunate, a portion of the proceeds of each pageant will be donated to an organization that benefits children.

Marilyn is excited to bring this wonderful pageant system to Nevada and looks forward to working with your outstanding children!

Our Co-Director

Rachel Russell entered her first pageant at the age of 7 months!  Over the next 4 years she went on to win many local, state and national pageant and photogenic titles.  She didn't enter a pageant again until she was 16 when her mom challenged Rachel at the last minute (3 hours notice to be precise!) to compete.  She was a walk-in, but won the Teen Over-All title.  Then she entered the state pageant 4 months later and placed in the Top 5!

We shouldn't be surprised that Rachel did so well, having grown up around pageantry all of her life.  With mom, Marilyn, competing, directing, coaching and judging and older sister Maryn competing through the Miss America system, from a young age Rachel grew to love pageantry and helping "pageants girls" no matter their age (or hers!)

Rachel will be attending TMCC to attain her AA  degree/ certification as a radiology technician.

Like her mom, she is passionate about helping others, especially where children are concerned. Rachel recently spent 2 1/2 weeks  in Central America helping to renovate a school and assisted the children in their summer reading program.

She is happy to be working with her mom to produce such a high-quality pageant system here in Nevada!
